Student Government

The student Government is an important part of the Thunderbolt Academy program. The purpose of this club is to support pro-social behavior, encourage responsibility, promote academics and facilitate social growth. To become a member of the Student Government, you must demonstrate positive behavior which includes the ability to confront, be confronted and to be a positive role model, demonstrate and support academic excellence, and show outstanding punctuality and attendance. Members of this club are the student leaders for the campus culture. They participate in on and off-campus social activities, provide peer mentoring, and are able to earn off-campus privileges.

This group is responsible for the development of positive leadership, the support of positive norms, and provides you with the opportunity for recognition of positive behavior. Each school has representatives who assist in coordinating campus activities.

All students are eligible to become members of this club. Before becoming a member, a pledge period must me completed. You can get a copy of the pledge package from your Team Leader.

The Student Government exemplifies the philosophy of Thunderbolt Academy by providing opportunities for you to use positive peer pressure in helping yourself and your peers to develop and maintain the positive campus normative culture.




Student Privileges for Student Government

· Participate in off campus events

· Use of school vending machines (if applicable)

· Coordinate school events

· Wear different color uniforms for separation from lower status students

· Order lunch

· Use of student government lounge

· Not walk in protocol/wear jewelry

· Monitor student systems (Snack Cart, Townhouse, Transitions)

· High trust level
